A Weekend at the Lake

Well, it's summertime, and the temperatures are soaring into the 90's, so it's time to head to the lake! We went down to Alabama, to Smith Lake and spent the weekend with my parents at their lake house. The water was clear and warm, and we had a lovely time visiting with my family.

I didn't get a photo of it, but my dad made this fantastic meal for dinner Saturday night. Shrimp, Chorizo and Chipotle Gravy over Mexican Rice. You can get the recipe at the food network website, here:

I do recommend cutting back on the Chipotle peppers, though! it's insanely hot.

OK, I am a total nerd...

I am spring cleaning and decluttering around here lately...Not my favorite thing to do, but when the dust bunnies and cat hair tumbleweeds threaten to take over, you do what you have to.

So I am organizing my shoes. I keep them all in their boxes. Problem is, I can't always remember what the shoes look like based only on the description on the box. So I photographed my shoes this morning. And I am putting the photos on the ends of all the boxes. So I don't have to open them to know what's inside.

Yes, I am a total nerd...

A Lovely Weekend...

Kelly and I spent a lovely weekend near Chattanooga. We stayed with some friends at their home on the Tennessee River, and it was so peaceful! Our hostess had a dinner party, inviting lots of extended family, and we had a lovely time making new friends and enjoying good food.

I am not much of a landscape photographer, but it was so pretty here on the river, I had to try. We had spectacular weather--not too hot, not too cold, and a nice pleasant breeze. We sent most of the time outdoors on the deck overlooking the river.

A Lovely Wedding...

I had the pleasure of working with Amanda Hagler of Shutterbelle Photography yesterday as we photographed Megan and Joshua's wedding at the Hermitage. The Hermitage is President Andrew Jackson's estate, and the wedding was held at the little church on the property. The reception followed at Tulip Grove Mansion, which was the home of Rachel Jackson's nephew, and Andrew Jackson's private secretary, Andrew Jackson Donelson. It was a lovely wedding, and Megan and Joshua were a joy to work with. We were fortunate that the week of rain leading up to the weekend ended just in time for the event. So here is a sneak peak of some of the images. Congratulations, Megan and Josh!
