Two adorable boys...

I had the pleasure of photographing Parker and Harrison the other day. At three, Parker is just a bundle of energy and curiosity. At two months, Harrison likes to watch everyone around him...

Another Family

I had the pleasure of photographing the Sneeds on Saturday afternoon. I have photographed the children on several occasions during the past two years, but this was the first time with the whole family. We had perfect weather, and the little one was in a good mood, so things went smoothly. So here's a sneek peak for you guys--I hope you enjoy them!

What a fun family!

On Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of photographing the Sperry Family. These guys were so much fun! They were up for jut about anything, and relaxed easily in front of the camera. It was easy to get photographs of them just being themselves, which is really the point of lifestyle photography after all.

So here's a sneak peak for you guys! I hope you love them as much as I do...

It took me a little longer than I planned, but here are some of my favorites from Kevin's session...what a great-looking guy he is!

Callie

I promised more from Sunday's session, and here they are! I have been working 18 hours a day to keep from falling behind deadlines, but I got some of my favorites of Callie finished. I hope to have some of Kevin's ready for posting tomorrow.

Fun in the Park

Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of photographing two high school seniors. Kevin and Callie are such great kids, and so much fun to work with. They have been friends since they were babies, and have such a close relationship. In fact, their parents grew up together.

Last year, I photographed Callie's older sister, Whitley, for her senior year. And two years before that, Kevin's older sister, Kelsey.

We all met at Montgomery Bell State Park a couple hours before sunset. The kids had a lot of fun, and Callie almost caught a rabbit on the edge of the field!

I'll be sharing more from this session in the coming days, so check back often!

Home again at last...

Well, we’re back from the Pacific Northwest. Nine days away from home…Got in late last night. Parrish got back to Honolulu around 2 a.m., CST. We actually had pleasant flights both to and from, if airline travel can be considered pleasant these days…

We had beautiful weather for our entire trip. Sunny at least part of every day, and a misty rain only on one day. Temps ranged from highs in the low 50’s to highs in the mid 70’s. Got pretty cold at night, though—down into the low 40’s and upper 30’s.

We put 700 miles on the rental car. We spent time in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Purdy, Port Townsend, Anacortes, Friday Harbor, North Bend, Snoqualmie, and Seattle. I took nearly 2,000 photos. We saw the Olympic Mountains, the Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, and Mount Baker. We took the ferry to and from San Juan Island. We visited Pike’s Market and Pioneer Square in Seattle. We saw Snoqualmie Falls. We visited a train museum and the diner where they filmed part of the TV show Twin Peaks. We had dinner with friends, breakfast with friends. We stayed at The Tucker House, Salish Lodge, the Crown Plaza, and in a 5th Wheel camper…we stayed somewhere different almost every night. We had great massages at the Salish Lodge. We have no clean clothes left, and mail is covering the dining room table. Woofey and Anna are still annoyed with us. We both have tons of work piled up that all needs to be done yesterday…

Now we need a vacation to recover from our vacation.

I'll post some photos as soon as I have time to upload and process all of them.

OK, just how beautiful is she? I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous little girl, along with four other beautiful children, Tuesday afternoon.

We worked in the town square of historic downtown Franklin, TN. The beautiful old buildings made for the perfect backdrop.

The little girls are wearing dresses from Flit & Flitter. Mimi's outfit is from the
Turtle Dove Collection. Isn't it gorgeous? Such rich colors and textures.

And this little angel? How precious is she? Beautiful Katie is wearing a frock from Flit & Flitter's Chickadee Collection. So whimsical!

Katie, Mimi, and their brothers were such a joy to photograph. Not only are they beautiful, but well-behaved too. And their mom's are pretty cool as well. They'd have to be to dress their kids in such awesome clothes, wouldn't they?

I haven't had time to process all the images yet--and haven't done any of the boys so far--but I wanted to share at least a few right away. I'll post more as I finish with them. So check back often!

So much happening...

Gosh, I have been so flippin' busy the past two months!

Rebekah and I have one more school to photograph this fall, and all the paperwork and processing that goes with it. Plus wedding albums orders coming in, family pictures for Christmas, and a few high school seniors...and one really exciting project I'll share when it's done.

I also have plans for a whole new look for Lifestyle Images by year end. I can't wait to unveil it all!

I am also getting ready to head west. Seattle, here I come. The only times I have been west of the Mississippi River in my whole life are:

  • Hot Springs, AR for a weekend 14 years ago
  • Dallas, TX for a business meeting 10 years ago
  • Honolulu, HI last year to get my daughter settled at college

So I am totally psyched about seeing Washington State. I hope to have lots of great photos to share when I get back!

In the meantime, I have lots of work projects to wrap up, and deadlines to meet, so I better get back to it.

For now I will leave you with this cutie--isn't he just adorable? He was so happy and easy to photograph. A real pleasure.

I am a bad blogger...

I am such a bad blogger! I just forget to add new entries, or I don't have anything I feel is worthy of sharing...

But last weekend, I attended a photographers workshop in South Carolina with my friend and business partner, Rebekah. It was a long drive made even longer because of bad weather and accidents along the way. The rain was coming down so hard, and the fog was so thick, that we never even saw Knoxville as we drove right by the downtown area on I-40! It took us NINE hours to get to Columbia, South Carolina. It should have been a 6.25 hour drive, according to Google Maps.

Once we arrived and met the rest of the group for dinner, we enjoyed ourselves. We met some wonderful photographers from Connecticut and Florida (hey, Laurie and Leigh!), and from Johnson City, TN (hi, Wendy!) and from other places I can't remember (hi, girls!). We even met a lovely young woman from Dubai (you're gorgeous, Dana!).
As part of the workshop, we photographed some children at a local farm. Here are a few of the images. It's really hard to get good images of a child when there are 20 photographers crowded around all saying "look over here!"

Tag! I'm it!

I was actually tagged twice--once by Katie, and once by Rebekah. I've just been so swamped I haven't had time to respond.

So, 8 things about me...hmmm...does anyone really want to know? Too late!

  1. I changed my major in college 4 times and never did finish after I got married and had a kid. I regret that I didn't finish, but not enough to go back and do it now, 20 years later.
  2. I was born in Florida, lived in Georgia for a year, and have been in Tennessee since I was 9 years old. Yet, I still don't consider myself a Tennessean.
  3. I have had 22 different addresses and changed elementary schools 6 times. And my father was NOT in the military (the oil business). My parents are retired and still move every couple of years.
  4. I actually don't have much self-confidence--I just fake it. (Really, it's true!)
  5. My husband and I attended high schools in the same county, and knew a lot of the same people, but didn't meet until college in another city.
  6. I have three wedding dresses. One I wore for my first marriage, one I bought when engaged, but we broke up before the wedding. And one I wore to marry my current husband of 14 years.
  7. I have only been to two other countries--the Bahamas and Canada. I would love to travel a lot more!
  8. I would love to do adventurous things, but I am too chicken! I also don't like going without the creature comforts--things like air conditioning and indoor plumbing!
OK, boring enough?

So now I have to tag 4 more photographers...

So Much Fun!!!

We had so much fun yesterday doing a trash the dress session! Trash the prom dresses, and trash the wedding dress...

We got off to a late start because of thunderstorms in the area all afternoon. When it finally cleared up a bit, I took Parrish and Kate downtown to the Symphony Hall, the pedestrian bridge, and Legislative Plaza. We wanted to go to Printer's Alley as well, but it was getting too dark.

Here are some of my favorites...
